Suspect: "... We need the AfD...", "Germany wants to Islamize Europe."
In a shocking revelation, the prominent anti-Islam activist Taleb Al Abdulmohsen, has been identified as the suspect behind the devastating attack at Magdeburg’s Christmas market on December 20, 2024. The perpetrator, a 50-year-old Saudi Arabian doctor who has lived in Germany since 2006, drove his vehicle into a crowded festive gathering, killing two people, including a small child, and injuring between 60 to 80 others.
The suspect, who had a history of posting inflammatory statements on social media, openly blamed Germany for what he called "the Islamization of Europe." On his X account (formerly Twitter), he claimed that Germany was deliberately orchestrating the spread of Islam across the continent while persecuting Saudi asylum seekers to "destroy their lives." These statements, now being scrutinized by authorities, have brought the suspect’s radical ideology to the forefront of the investigation.
On X, the man presents himself as an ex-Muslim critic of Islam. On Friday evening, he posted several videos in English, stating:
In June of this year, the account posted in German: "In my experience, the German police are the true drivers of Islamism in Germany. My experience spans seven years, during which the police, most recently in March 2024, used dirty tactics against me and other critics of Islam to destroy our anti-Islamic activism. The leftists are crazy. ..."
"... We need the AfD to protect the police from themselves.", "Germany wants to Islamize Europe." His cover photo features a rifle.,
"I hold the German nation responsible for the killing of Socrates." He also declared, "Another reason why I blame German citizens for the persecution I experience in Germany is the story of a stolen USB stick from my mailbox." Later in the video, he said: "The government is criminal instead of protecting me. The police are the criminals. In this case, I hold the German nation and its citizens responsible."
In the profile description of his account, he writes in English: "Germany hunts Saudi asylum seekers inside and outside Germany to destroy their lives."
His X Account:
A female X user told WELT that she had reported al-A.’s posts to the platform months ago, which led to some of them being removed. She also mentioned a chat with another user where a potential attack plan by al-A. was discussed. However, she admitted that she did not inform the police. She now regrets her inaction, saying it was “obvious” that he was becoming radicalized.
She shared a tweet from December 2023 in which al-A. claimed that the German state was persecuting Saudi refugees to destroy their lives. He vowed revenge, writing: “I assure you, 100 percent, that revenge will come soon, even if it costs me my life.” He further warned, “Germany will have to pay the price. A huge price.” The post read like a terror threat but was later deleted. The X user speaking to WELT had saved it.
In May 2024, he posted in English: “I seriously expect to die this year. Reason: I will ensure justice at any cost. And the German authorities block all peaceful paths to justice.” Around the same time, he wrote in Arabic about the "implementation" of an "operation."
In August 2024, he posted in Arabic: “I assure you: If Germany wants war, we will have it. If Germany wants to kill us, we will slaughter them, die, or go to prison with pride. Because after exhausting all peaceful means, we have only encountered more crimes from the police, the state security, the prosecution, the judiciary, and the Ministry of the Interior. Peace serves them no purpose.”
Eyewitnesses describe a chaotic scene at the bustling Christmas market as the suspect’s vehicle plowed through stalls and pedestrians, leaving devastation in its wake. Emergency services responded swiftly, evacuating the injured to nearby hospitals while securing the area. The suspect was apprehended at the scene without resistance.
Authorities quickly classified the incident as a deliberate attack, with investigators now exploring the suspect’s potential connections to extremist groups or whether he acted alone.
